In early March of 2009, Meredith and Mike decided to get away from a rather harsh tail-end of winter in Toronto. They headed to Dallas to spend several days with Patti (Margaret-Ann’s sister) and her husband Jeff. I think the real reason they went was to watch their beloved Montreal Canadiens play the Dallas Stars. The Canadiens had a promising start to the season, but started to falter around the All-Star break. This game in Dallas was to be the last hurrah for Coach Guy Carbonneau, for although the Canadiens won the game, he was fired the next day by General Manager Bob Gainey. The day before the game, the Canadiens had an open practice at a local rink and, of course, Meredith and Mike were there to catch all the action.
