Christmas Day 2010

This year was Margaret-Ann and John’s turn to have both their children, Meredith and Jeremy, and their families for Christmas. Every other year the children are at their in-laws for Christmas.

Will & Ben Before Christmas

John and Margaret-Ann’s grandsons, 3-year old William and 6-month old Benjamin, met with a very important friend shortly before Christmas. Neither of them is expecting a lump of coal in their stocking Christmas morning!

What’s Old Is New Again

On Friday, November 10th, Will came to spend the weekend with his grandparents John and Margaret-Ann. Together they had many excellent adventures, including a trip to the Spirit Tree Apple Cidery in Caledon. Back in Brampton on Saturday night, Margaret-Ann dug out a sweater that John’s Aunt Martha had knit for their son Jeremy over thirty years ago. Jeremy’s son, Will, tried it on and loved it, and wore it the next day to church. Below, Will poses in his “new” sweater.

Photo Op At Starbucks

A week or so after Will’s 3rd birthday, while at Starbucks near their home, Jeremy and Jennifer with Will and Ben in tow, were approached by a photographer wanting to take a picture of them. They obliged him and a few days later the picture appeared on the front page of their local neighbourhood newspaper. A very photogenic family!

Autumn in Brampton

On a clear and crisp late afternoon in October, the 30 year old maple tree in front of our house looked pretty spectacular. The dry, warm summer caused the leaves to turn colour a little earlier than usual this year.

Benjamin At Almost Four Months

On Tuesday, September 28th, we drove down to babysit our grandsons, Benjamin and William. We hadn’t taken many pictures of Ben lately, so we took the opportunity to take several – and one of Will for good measure. Enjoy.

Will at the Butterfly Conservatory

On Tuesday, September 14th, Margaret-Ann and John picked up grandson Will and brought him back to their home in Brampton. The plan was for Will to spend the night in Brampton, then Wednesday morning, set off with the grandparents to the Niagara Butterfly Conservatory (about 5 kilometres from Niagara Falls). By mid-day, Wednesday, they were at Niagara-on-the-Lake and stopped for a picnic lunch in Simcoe Park. They all walked up to the main street and had decadent gelato for dessert – the stracciatella was Will’s favorite. After lunch it was a short trip down the Niagara River Parkway to the Niagara Butterfly Conservatory. Will and the grandparents thought the Butterfly Conservatory was fantastic! Will spent a lot of time trying to get a butterfly to land on his hand, but was not successful. However, just before they left, two large butterflies is quick succession flew right up to Will and landed on his bright red shirt – a perfect ending to a day at the Butterfly Conservatory! After leaving the Butterfly Conservatory, Will and the grandparents spent another hour walking through the adjacent Niagara Botanical Gardens seeing all sorts of interesting flora and fauna, then returned to Niagara-on-the-Lake to pick up some peaches and stop at Tim Hortons for dinner (Will loved his strawberry yogurt and chicken wrap). It wasn’t long after they were on the QEW back to Brampton, when Will was fast asleep in his car seat.
