Pirates on Lake Eugenia

On Tuesday, August 16th, Margaret-Ann and John set out for Lake Eugenia – about one-and-a-half hours northwest of Brampton, near Flesherton and on the way to Owen Sound – where Jeremy and Jennifer together with Jennifer’s parents, Bill and Karen, had rented a cottage for the week.

Arriving at the cottage, Margaret-Ann and John found a large pirate flag flying over the dock and saw Jeremy and Will, wearing a pirate bandana, paddling a canoe on the lake. Will had a great time playing and swimming in the lake, showing no fear of the water at all. Ben, on the other hand, was a little more reluctant about getting into the water.

After lunch, Margaret-Ann, John, Jeremy and Will drove into Flesherton to do some grocery shopping and on the way back took a side trip to view the scenic Eugenia Falls. Later, back at the cottage, Jeremy took Margaret-Ann and Will for a leisurely canoe trip around the lake.

After a wonderful barbequed chicken dinner, it was time for Margaret-Ann and John to return to Brampton. The end of another excellent, and very relaxing, adventure.

Jaye’s Baptism

On Sunday, August 14th, Meredith and Michael brought their daughter, Jaye, to Margaret-Ann and John’s church in Brampton to be baptized. Also attending the service were Michael’s parents, Eileen and Keith, from Odessa and his sister, Kate, and her boyfriend, Steve, from Oakville.

Wes, the very popular minister of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, was preaching his final sermon this day (leaving for another congregation in Toronto), and many families took the opportunity to have their children (seven in total) baptized today.

The gown Jaye wore was the same one that Margaret-Ann and her sister and three brothers wore when they were christened!

Grandsons Will and Ben arrived at Margaret-Ann and John’s early Friday afternoon on July 29th… Jeremy and Jennifer dropping them off on their way to spend the night at an inn in Creemore, a little over an hour north of Brampton. The boys played for the rest of the day and after dinner, bath time and bedtime stories settled down for a good night sleep.

After Saturday morning breakfast, it was off to Professor’s Lake to feed the ducks.

After lunch and Ben’s nap, Margaret-Ann and John drove the boys to Georgetown where they picked up their Aunt Meredith and headed to the local splash pad to play in the water.

Returning from Georgetown, there was time before dinner to load the boys in the stroller and take a short walk down to the Etobicoke Creek near Margaret-Ann and John’s house. There a couple of beavers were busy working on maintaining their dam. Then it was back to Margaret-Ann and John’s for a pizza dinner with fruit and a chocolate fondue for dessert.

Meredith, Michael and Jaye met Margaret-Ann, John and the boys at Professors Lake on Monday morning, August 1st. The ducks were expecting them and had another feast on dried bread.
