Europe 2013 – Day 3

August 25th – Amsterdam

Weather – partly overcast and mild

Margaret-Ann and John had a quick breakfast in their room, checked out of the hotel (leaving their luggage stored there for later pick-up) and were at the Rijks Museum just after it opened at 9:00 a.m.

They spent the next three and a half hours touring the museum with their wonderful audio guides. The museum is huge and they barely scratched the surface, but what they saw was very impressive -- like Rembrandt's Night Watch. They finished up by strolling through the grounds around the museum taking in the exhibition of Henry Moore sculptures.

The weather was calling for rain in the morning but fortunately Margaret-Ann and John were able to walk back to the hotel and pick up their luggage without getting wet. They caught a cab to Uniworld's S.S. Antoinette, and by 1:00 p.m. were aboard the river cruise ship, ready to start their voyage up the Rhine River to Basel, Switzerland.

They had way too much to eat on board for lunch and were toasting their departure from Amsterdam with champagne on the sun deck at 4:00 p.m. After wandering around the boat for a while, a 40 minute workout in the fitness room and a quick shower it was time for dinner!

Tomorrow – Cologne.
