Europe 2013 – Day 4

August 26th – Cologne

Weather – overcast and mild.

Overnight the S.S. Antoinette sailed through the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal and entered the Rhine River proper, early in the morning.

By breakfast, Margaret-Ann and John found themselves sailing past Dusseldorf and shortly after lunch left the ship in the small village of Zons to board a bus for a quick trip into Cologne.

After a walking trip through the old town they toured the remarkable Cathedral then reboarded the ship that, by this time, had docked in the heart of Cologne.

For the Captain's Gala Dinner Margaret-Ann and John ended up sitting at the Captain's table (a very pleasant 38 year old Dutchman) and once again ate too much -- but it was soooo good! They sailed away from Cologne at 11:00 p.m.  and seeing the Cathedral lit up at night was spectacular!
