Europe Day 7 – August 26th

22 Celsius and Cloudy & Rain

This is the seventh of twenty posts documenting Margaret-Ann and John’s 2011 trip to Europe.

The last day in Paris for Margaret-Ann, John, Barbara and Rudi started off cloudy and didn’t get much better. After breakfast they took a taxi to the Gare de l’Est train station and boarded the German ICE (Intercity-Express) train.

An hour and fifty-two minutes later (most of the trip at 310 km per hour and part of it through a thunderstorm with large hail stones) they were in Saarbrücken , where they transferred to a regional German train to complete the journey to Idar-Oberstein.

It was a short taxi ride to Barbara and Rudi’s house, an hour or so to freshen up, then off to the 103 year-old Kirschweiler-Brücke restaurant where we met Walter and Helga, friends of Rudi and Barbara, for a wonderful dinner.

And so ended day seven of Margaret-Ann and John’s 2011 European trip. Keep checking the blog for more postings of this trip.
