25 Celsius and Sunny
This is the third of twenty posts documenting Margaret-Ann and John’s 2011 trip to Europe.
After yet another hearty breakfast, Margaret-Ann, John, Rudi and Barbara took the Métro to the Musée du Louvre, one of the world’s largest museums (they say if you spend only three seconds in front of each exhibit, you would need three months to see everything). After touring the Louvre for a few hours on their own, they took a guided tour that highlighted the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory and the Coronation of Napoleon.
Late afternoon, the group rode the complete circuit of the hop-on-hop-off tour bus and finished up at the Galleries Lafayette, Paris’s very fashionable 10-story department store, were Barbara treated them to wonderfully decadent macarons. John and Rudi watched while Margaret-Ann and Barbara continued to shop (I think it is in the genes).
After returning by Métro, the group settled in for dinner at the piano bar/restaurant beside their hotel. The food was excellent, however, the wait staff had trouble providing everyone’s food at the same time. This, coupled with the electronic feedback from the guitar player, made for a rather interesting evening!
And so ended day three of Margaret-Ann and John’s 2011 European trip. Keep checking the blog for more postings of this trip.
