20 Celsius and Cloudy with Light Showers
This is the thirteenth of twenty posts documenting Margaret-Ann and John’s 2011 trip to Europe.
After breakfast, Sepp, Margaret-And and John checked out of the Lindl-Hof Hotel, then drove to Munich and met Sigrid.
The group checked into the Hotel Daniel, then went walking around the Marienplatz in the Altstadt (old town), ending up at Dallmayr’s (Munich’s world class delicatessen) where Sepp and Sigrid bought champagne to celebrate Margaret-Ann and John’s recent 40th wedding anniversary.
After drinks, the group continued on to the Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Dear Lady) and Heiliggeistkirche before heading to Orlando Haus and Hofbräuhaus, beer halls in the Platzl quarter. They walked past the the State Opera House on the way to Odeonsplatz to view the Residenz (former royal palace of the Bavarian monarchy) the Theatinerkirche and the Feldherrnhalle (Field Marshals' Hall).
Lunch was at the Vinzenzmurr deli, with the girls having salads and the boys feasting on Leberkäse (spicy meatloaf). Later in the afternoon it was cake and coffee at the Café Luitpold, and dinner was at the Italian restaurant beside the Hotel Daniel (where Margaret-Ann discovered that pizza in Germany is never cut into slices).
And so ended day thirteen of Margaret-Ann and John’s 2011 European trip. Keep checking the blog for more postings of this trip.
